Too many health related disciplines as they grow to institutional levels lose the fact that the client is the expert in their own life. Grounding the work in Self-Determination Theory, Transtheoretical ‘Stages of Change’ model, using Motivational Interviewing, setting the client as the subject matter expert in their own life. What this looks like is (among other things) a one-on-one discussion of strengths, values, achievements, past challenges, preferences and dislikes dictate the best approach for a program tuned to the client to set one up for a solid, lasting pathway toward health and wellness.
